Floods Take Toll on Mosquito Nets By Curtis Winston, The Cambodia Daily Malaria-fighting efforts were drowned out in the recent floods in Kampot province as residents lost mosquito nets that had earlier been provided to them. We had to distribute 2,000 nets to replace ones that had been lost in the flooding, said Dr Doung Socheat, vice director of the National Malaria Center. The nets to victims at Koh Sla were among relief supplies provided by the World Health Organization, in addition to medicine, according to the National Committee on Disaster Management. USAID provided second-hand clothing the settlement, the disaster agency said in a press release. Other flood relief in Kampot province was provided by the government, which sent food and household kits. The Red Cross delivered medicine, rice, clothing and plastic sheeting to five communes.
