Projects >> Rural Schools

The Vogel School is named for Professor Ezra Vogel, a renowned retired professor of Asian studies at Harvard University. Honor students in grades four through six from schools across Ratanakiri are eligible for the school's special program, which includes intensive classes in computers and English as well as the standard Khmer curriculum. Facilities at the school include an air-conditioned computer room, a library and a reading room. Scholarships, room and board are provided for students from remote villages.

The school was established by two former students of Ezra Vogel: Richard Dyck, a businessman in Japan, and Merry "Corky" White, Professor of anthropology at Boston University. Mrs. Monie Tiann serves as the headmistress and manager of the project.
